教学目标 To learn the months of the year
教材分析 重点 To learn the name of the months
难点 The pronunciation of January, February, September, October, November, December.
教具 A calendar, word cards, a recorder
教 学 过 程

Step 1. Greeting
How are you? What day is it today?

Step 2. Guide in.
What day is it? It’s Monday.---- day
How many days are there in a week?--- week
How many days are there in a month? ---- month
How many months are there in a year? ---year
There are 12 months in a year. What are they?
They are January, February, March…..

Step 3. Presentation & Practice
1. Ask the pupils if they know the names of the months. Ask the pupils to say after the teacher the names of the months, in order, using the calendar if necessary.

2. Guessing game:
Using the calendar, the teacher turn to a particular page, ask the students to guess what month it is.

3. Make a quiz for the pupils.
Write the names of the months using the letters in the wrong order. Also mix up the order of the months, for example, GASTUU= August. Tell the pupils to unscramble the letters. See who can be first to finish.

4. (Books open). Show Transparency. Play the Pupil’s Book Cassette and point to the speech bubbles. Ask the pupils to repeat after the cassette.

Step 5 Homework

2. Copy Book, Dictation of the new words.
3. Listen and read Part A, Unit 1 5 times.

The quiz for the students is a little bit difficult for most of them. Maybe it will serve better when using it in the second period.

4. Read the words in B2, Page 3.

1. The conclusion of the formation of the words.

1. The read-out of the dates seems ok to them.
2. But they can’t not figure out how to write the ordinal numbers: forty-second, eighty-sixth, ninety-ninth, etc.

Step 3: Presentation and Practice.
1. (Book closed.) Ask Which month is it? What’s the date today?
2. Ask individual pupils When’s your birthday?
Guide the students to answer: It’s in … It’s on…. Then get the students to work in pairs to ask each other When’s your birthday?

3. (Books open.) Show Transparency. Play the Pupil’s Book Cassette. Explain that Tim is going to use his saved money to buy Grandma a present.
4. Read the conversation and ask the class to read it after the teacher. Practise the falling intonation for the question When’s Grandma’s birthday?

5. Demonstrate the conversation in picture 2. Show the pupils that Tim is asking about Aunt Jane’s birthday and point to Aunt Jane in his thought bubble. Get the pupils to repeat the conversation after the teacher.
6. Ask two pupils to role-play Tim and his mother in picture2.

7. Tell the pupils to work in pairs. Ask them to look at pictures 3, 4 and 5 and role-play Tim and his mother.
8. Ask When’s …’s birthday? About the people in the thought bubbles in pictures 2, 3, 4 and 5.

Step 4: Homework

难点 The short forms of writing the dates.
教具 The calendar, the recorder.

Step 1: Greeting.
Step 2: Free talk:
1. How are you?
2. What day is it today?
3. What lesson do you have on Friday?
4. What’s the date today? It’s September 10.
5. Today is Teachers’ Day. What do you say to the teachers?

Step 3: Guide in.
1. T: What’s your name, please? Nice to meet you. When’s your birthday? It’s on….
The teacher writes the dates on the blackboard, using the short forms.

After 3 examples. Ask the students to conclude the ways to write the dates in the short forms.

Step 4: Presentation and Practice.
1. Ask the students: Do you know my birthday? The students say no. Then the teacher says: My birthday is in January. Can you guess on which date?
2. Students guess the teacher’s birthday using the sentence: Is your birthday on…..?
3. Group work: Guessing their partner’s birthday in groups of six.

Step 5: Part B3 Listen and circle the correct dates.
Listen to the tape twice and find out the correct answers.

Step 6: Homework.

The students seem not to be active in the class, because of the difficult questions I prepared for them, I think.

Their interests in learning English should be enhanced.

Step 1: Greeting.

Step 2: Revision
1. Read the names of the month.
2. Read the ordinal numbers.
3. Read some special days.

Step 3: While-task stage
1. Tell the pupils to ask others in the class about their birthdays in order to get into groups with birthdays in the same month. They should follow the example in the pictures on page 6.
2. within their groups, the pupils find out the birthdays of their group members in order to get into order of dates.
3. Ask each pupil to cut out the train car on page 77. Tell them to stick or draw a picture of themselves and write the date of their birthday on the carriage.
4. Tell the pupils to line up in order of their birthdays and to present their train by saying who is the first, the second, the third and so on.

1. The students seem to be quite active in this class.
2. It’s very challenging to manage such a big activity for it’s really difficult to keep the whole class under your thumb when everyone gets excited in your class.

Step 1: Greeting.

Step 2: Exercises in the Exercise Book
1. (Page 1) Tell the pupils to look at the months in the box and write the correct months in the word puzzle. Two of the months will not be used. Then ask the pupils to complete the sentence by writing the correct month of Sam’s birthday.
2. (Page 2) Ask the pupils to look at the pictures and listen to the Workbook Cassette. Ask the pupils to write the correct months according to what they hear on the tape.
3. (Page 3) Ask the pupils to circle the correct dates for the people’s birthdays according to what they hear on the tape.
4. ( Page 4) Ask the pupils to look at the top of the page and listen to the Workbook Cassette. They need to circle the words with the same sound and the same letters according to what they hear on the tape.
Ask the pupils to look a the bottom of the page. Tell them to look at the pictures and fill in the blanks.
5. (Page 5) Ask the pupils to look at the pictures and read the sentences. Then tell them to complete the dialogues by writing the correct sentences in the blanks.
6. (Page 6) Ask the pupils to look at the pictures and read the conversation. Then tell them to complete the dialogues by writing the correct words in the blanks.
