The first period
A. The children are at Dr Jeckel’s lab. Listen, look and act.
Presentation
1. Ask the pupils How do you help at home? Revise the actions they know from Book 6, i.e. clean a room, make the bed, set the table, sweep the floor, wash the dishes, water the plants.
2. Write a list of the objects to be found in a home on the board, i.e. bed, table, table, floor, dishes, plants. Teach the new words using pictures and add the words to the list on the board. Make sentences using In my home there is /are … Ensure that the pupils know to use There is with singular items, and there are with plural items, e.g. There are DVDs.
3. Show Transparency. Play the Pupil’s Book Cassette and point to the speech bubbles. Ask the pupils to repeat after the cassette.
Practice
1. Show Transparency. Point to the robot in the picture. Introduce the professor, saying This is the man who made the robot. He is a professor. He is clever. He makes new things.
2. Teach the new vocabulary and then point out the stairs. Tell the pupils we call the area where the professor is sitting downstairs and the area above upstairs.
3. Read the conversation between Koko, Pat and the professor. Ask the pupils to repeat the conversation after me. Point to the other new items in the professor’s lab and ask the pupils to make There’s /There are sentences about the other objects.
4. Tell the pupils to work in groups of three and to role-play the conversation between Koko, Pat and the professor according to the objects they see.
Homework
Copy the new words and make sentences.

The second period
Revision of the new words in Part A.
B1. Dr Jeckel has a new machine. Listen and act Pat and Koko.
Presentation
1. Ask the pupils: Do you help at home a lot? You must be tired. Here’s a robot. Will robots help us with housework in the future? What do you think?
2. Write on the board the sentence Will robots help us? Ask the pupils to guess: What will there be in the house of the future? Write the starter sentences on the board: There will be … Show the pupils this is the same for both singular and plural objects.
3. Write the names of objects on the board. Put the heading: In the house of the future. Using the list, check that the pupils know how to make questions using the future tense and the verb to be, i.e. Will there be …?

Practice
1. Show Transparency. Play the Pupil’s Book Cassette. Point to what Pat and Koko can see in the house of the future.
2. Read the conversation in pictures 1 and 2 and ask the pupils to read it after me.
3. Check that the pupils know that the names of the objects in the small close-up pictures in pictures 3-7 are in Pat’s thought bubbles.
4. Ask the pupils to work in pairs to act Pat and Koko talking about the objects in pictures 3-7.
B2. Dr Jeckel’s housework robot is ready. Look, read and say.
Presentation
1. Tell the pupils In the future there will be a robot in every house. Ask the pupils Would you like a robot in your house?
2. Ask the pupils to recall the phrases for helping at home. Show them how to make these phrases into future tense questions, e.g. sweep the floor

Yes, it will.
No, it won’t.
Tell the pupils to ask me about what the robot will do in the house of the future.
Practice
1. Show Transparency. Read the conversation and point out the professor’s list. Explain that the ticks mean the robot will do those things and the crosses mean the robot will not do those things.
2. Play the cassette and ask the pupils to listen to the conversation once more and repeat it.
3. Ask the pupils to work in groups of three and to act the professor, Pat and Koko.
Homework
Recite B1 and B2.

Will there be …? 句型中的be学生容易把它漏掉,这个句型的肯定回答和否定回答与B2中的Will the robot …?的肯定回答和否定回答有的学生分不清楚。

The third period

B3. Listen and put a tick or a cross in each box.
Play the Pupil’s Book Cassette. Ask the pupils to write a tick or a cross in the box of each picture.
A. Space Hotel.
1. Check that the pupils know what a hotel is. Ask them to tell me the name of hotels they see in the area near them.
2. Play the cassette for the pupils.
3. Ask the pupils Do you want to stay in Space Hotel? What will you do there?
B. Read C again. Write short answers.
1. Ask the pupils to read the passage again. Show them where to write their short answers.
2. Check the answers with the pupils.

D部分的回答问题中,有些学生对于特殊疑问句的引导词不够重视,出现答非所问的情况,要教他们认真看特殊疑问句的引导词.

The fourth period

C. Say the sound and the words.
1. Play the Pupil’s Book Cassette and ask the pupils to listen to the sound and the words.
2. Say the words slowly and clearly. Check that the pupils are saying the sound correctly.
3. Point to the pictures and check that the pupils can say the words without my model.
4. Play the Pupil’s Book Cassette again. Ask the pupils to listen to and say the poem.
5. Ask them to listen to the four words at the bottom of the page and to circle the words with the same letters and sound. Get the pupils to repeat the rhyme.
D. What will the house of the future be like?
1. Tell the pupils to label the things they can see in Koko’s house of the future.
2. Tell the pupils to write about Koko’s house of the future.
3. Tell the pupils to ask each other questions about Koko’s house of the future and to point to the things asked about on their diagram.
4. Tell the pupils to draw and write about their own house of the future. Then ask them to tell the class about the houses and display their drawings.
E. Listen, match and chant.
1. Play the cassette for the pupils to listen to the chant.
2. Play the cassette again and encourage the pupils to join in with the words.
3. Tell the pupils to write the letter of the picture next to the verse that it tells about.
F. Think about it!
Ask the pupils to look at the photo of the robot. Tell them it is a robot that can do many things. Ask the pupils to search the Internet to see if they can find out the robot’s name.
