Dear ladies and gentlemen
Today my topic is Unit 9 My favourite subject is Science, SectionA period 1. Now I’ll introduce my teaching material in the following 5 parts: teaching aims, teaching importances and difficulties, teaching aids, teaching procedures and blackboard design.
Let’s first come to the teaching aims. emphasizes the combination of knowledge and skill, process and method, emotional attitude. Based on this idea and students’ cognitive competence, I’ll achieve the following objectives in this lesson.
First, knowledge and skill
Ss are expected to understand and digest the new words, such as subjects, P.E., science, interesting and so on.
Ss’ll learn to use formal English to describe things, express their own feelings on favourite subject and its reason, such as What’s your favourite subject? My favourite subject is ….., which are the difficult points of this lesson.
Second, process and method
I’ll mainly use the task based method, on the basis of the input and output hypothesis. Ss’ll receive different kinds of tasks like free talk and group discussion to stimulate their inner studying motivation and inspire their creativity in language using and acquisition.
Third, emotional attitude
After learning this lesson, Ss’ll get a better understanding of the importance of keeping balance in each subject and realize they’re the master of study.
Next ,let’s come to the teaching aids. I’ll use PPT, tapes and multi-media materials to increase the enjoyment and classroom capacity.
Now I’ll focus on the teaching procedures which include 4 steps.
The first step is warming- up, it’ll take 2 mins. First, I’ll show a short video of , let Ss guess how many subjects are there in this video and what are they. Ss are expected to say the names of subjects as many as possible.
The second step is pre-task, it’ll take around 28 mins. First , I’ll show some pictures which are taken from the short video and then let Ss guess the name of subjects. I’ll help Ss to say its corresponding English words, such as art, history….. If Ss can’t guess it out, I’ll use my body language or ask and answer method to help them. For example, the first picture is history class, I’ll ask what class is this? Can you tell me? Ss can answer it quickly. Then I’ll write the new word “history” on the blackboard. Teacher can still tell Ss how to remember it quickly. I’ll teach other new words in the same way, and let Ss read after me to get familiar with them.
In the teaching, we should insist accordance of their aptitude. Thus, I’ll add some more new words to expand their vocabulary.
Second, Ss will learn new sentence pattern by ask and answer. For example I like English best. My favourite subject is English. What about you ?What’s your favourite subject?.
According to their age and cognitive level, I’ll use memory challenge to stimulate their interests. I’ll present pictures of subject in every 1 second and invite groups at random to ask and answer like this: What’s your favourite subject? My favourite subject is ….., This part is supposed to revise new words and sentences and pave the way for next step. At the same time, it can also practice memory ability.
Next is listening. Ss should listen to the tape twice. The first time, Ss should circle the subjects they hear. The second time, Ss should think about 2 questions while listening. This part is meant to practice their listening and further understanding the key sentence structure.
Then, I’ll help Ss to learn “why do you like…” “ because it is ……” I’’ll set 2—3 models for Ss and after that, let Ss make their own dialogues.
Last is listening. Ss should listen to the tape twice. The first time, Ss should do the match. Teacher reminds Ss to grasp the key points of listening. The second time, let Ss read after the tape and imitate.
The third step is while-task, it’ll take around 4mins.
I’ll show them 2 school tible, one is from China, the other is from America. Teacher helps Ss to compare the 2 school tibles and asks them to work in groups to make their own ideal tible and give reason. Though group discussion, Ss can not only expand their knowledge, but also develop their ability of reflection
The fourth step is post-task, it’ll take around 4mins.
I’ll invite some volunteers to share their ideal tible to the whole class. And I’ll give them assessments.
At last, I’ll leave homework to Ss.
My blackboard design can be divided into 3 parts. The left part, I’ll write new words and phrases in this lesson. In the middle, I’ll write key sentences. The right part, is 新词.
