“Astronomy : the science of the stars”中心话题是“天文学”,内容涉及太阳系,地球上生命的起源,宇宙大爆炸,月球探秘,黑洞效应等,主要内容是围绕地球上的生命的起源展开的。本课时通过对宇宙大爆炸理论进行科学性分析,推断出地球上生命的由来以及生物进化的过程,培养学生对科学的兴趣,激发学生探索科学的热情。
二 学情分析
高一(6)班是平行班,学生的英语基础较差,但是对英语有兴趣的学生不少,因此在教学中要继续保持他们学习的热情。教师可以采用任务型教学和合作学习的方式让学生预习好新课,完成预习练习

T: Hello, everyone! Today we will come to Unit 4, Astronomy. Before that I have a question: where do we come from? Or we can say: Who are our ancestors?

T: Very good! Do you know what it was like before life appeared on earth?
S4: Full of water…
Bs: I don’t know.
T: Do you want to get more information?
Ss: Yes, we do.
T: Today we will learn something about how life began on earth.there
Are many fairy tales in the world telling about how life began on earth.let’look some pictures to learn about these tales.
(1)Pangu separates the sky from the earth
(2)The Goddess Nuwa mended the heaven and created human beings from the clay(粘土).
(3) God created the world in seven days
These just the tales not the truth ,there is a video that show how the earth and the life began. Now let’s appreciate the video。Watching carefully and then answer what have you seen from the video?

Step 2 reading
1.fast-reading,ask stutents to follow the tape and then match main idea of each paragraph

3. let Ss read the text again and then do exercise on page27 exercise 2
