高中英语说课稿 Unit4 A night the Earth Didn't Sleep

 Hello ladies and gentlemen,

I'm greatly honored to have the opportunity to share my teaching ideas with you. I am  from  and my topic is “A night the Earth Didn't Sleep” taken from Unit4,Book1. My presentation consists of 7 parts: The analysis of teaching material; The analysis of the students; teaching methods; learning methods; teaching procedures ;blackboard design and teaching aids..

Part1 The Analysis of the Teaching Material

This part consists of 5 aspects:

1. Status and function of this passage

This reading passage is the highlight of this unit. It mainly talks about the biggest earthquake which hit Tangshan in 1976. By reading the description of the terrible disaster, students can know more information about the earthquakes and feel prouder of our great nation and great people.

2. Teaching goals:

1) Knowledge goals

Get students know the new words and expressions in this period.

Let students learn about the signs before an earthquake, the damage of an earthquake and the rescue work after the earthquake.

2) Ability goals

Train the students’ reading skills---Skimming, scanning and careful-reading and ability to cooperate with others.

3) Emotion goals

Let the Ss know the ways to protect themselves and call on them to help others in disaster.

3. Teaching important points:

Improve the students’ reading ability and the ability of reading comprehension.

4. Teaching difficult points:

Write a poster using ‘self-rescue in an earthquake’ as the title.

Part2 The Analysis of the students

The students are in senior one. They have got some knowledge of earthquakes, but it is limited. It’ s hard for them to express the information in English. So I will help the students on different levels.

Part3 Teaching Methods

To achieve the teaching aims above, I’ll adopt the following teaching methods:

1). Task-based teaching method enables the Ss to read and learn more efficiently and with more curiosity.

2). Situational approach enables the Ss to be more active and more creative.

3). Question-and–answer method, to some degree, it can arouse Ss’ interest and develop their analysis ability.

4). Discussion can help develop their thinking and communicative ability.

5). Multi-media assistance arouses the Ss’ interest, curiosity and desire for learning.

Part4 Learning Methods

As is described in modern educational theory, “the process of obtaining knowledge is more important than obtaining knowledge itself ” , so I will try to arouse the Ss’ potentials and make them obtain knowledge by means of autonomous study and cooperation, and at the same time form good learning methods to improve their reading, speaking, and writing abilities.

Part4 Teaching procedures

According to the teaching aims, I divide the teaching procedures into 7 steps.

Step1. Check the homework

By checking the homework, encourage Ss to describe the damage caused by earthquakes.

Step2. Lead -in and pre –reading

By knowing the damage caused by earthquakes, arouse Ss to think if we can do something to avoid too much suffers and damage. Then come to some signs before an earthquake. Look at the pictures and tell us what will happen before an earthquake.

Step3. While-reading

I. Skimming & Scanning

The purpose is to enable the students to find out some exact information quickly. And get the main idea of each part of the passage. According to the main idea of the passage, help the Ss know how the passage is organized ----in time order.

II. Careful- reading

Do careful-reading to get the detailed information of the passage. In this part, with paragraph 1 do individual work to fill in the blank about signs before an earthquake; with paragraph2&3 do some true or false questions to know the damage caused by the earthquake; And with paragraph4 apply ask-and-answer method to know the detail information about the rescue after the earthquake.

Step4 Summary

Retell the story to consolidate what Ss learnt about the Tangshan earthquake.

Step5: Discussion(Group work)

“What should we do when an earthquake happens?” Let Ss know some ways to save themselves in an earthquake.

Step6 Sum-up

"What have you learnt in this class ?"

Step7. Homework

Write a poster using ‘self-rescue in an earthquake’ as the title. Improve the Ss’ writing ability.
