Lesson interpretation for unit 1, module 7 That smells delicious! NSE Book 2 A
Good morning, ladies and gentleman. It’s my great honor to stand here show you with a teaching plan. As a teacher, the most important part is “How to help the students learn effectively, right?Yes!This lesson plan I am going to talk about is from New Standard English Book 2A,Unit 1,Module7, the title is“That smells delicious!”.And the type of lesson is listening and vocabulary. And I’ll explain how to teach and why to teach. So there are form 5 aspects, the theoretical basis understanding of the teaching material, teaching methods and studying ways, teaching procedures, the last is blackboard design. I The theoretical basis. According to New English Curriculums Standard, the listening is very, very important, and the good listening can achieve the others’ skills. I should try to activate the students’ knowledge and also offer them some listening skills about the listening material. According to the top-down model, I will teach them some new words and sentence structures, and after that just listening details. II Understanding of teaching material My understanding of teaching material includes 3 parts: the status and function, teaching objective and the important points and difficult points. And the first part is the status and the function. You know, according to curriculums of English, the good listening can improve the others’ skills .And this lesson, the major part is listening. General speaking, It’s not difficult for the students to understanding the listening material, but there are some sense verbs and sentence structures that maybe a little difficult for them. You know the students’ vocabulary is very limited. So in order to improve the quality of this listening material, I will teach them some new words and sentence structures. And so much for this part. And the next part is teaching objectives, in order to fulfill the learning task of this lesson, I establish the following objectives: By the end of the lesson, students will have a better understanding of the new words and sentence structures, and also remember them by heart. Such as : It tastes delicious! It looks strong! And so on. And the next knowledge objective is the ability objective. Actually students should be encouraged to improve their listening skills. Because, you know, students’ listening skills are lack of confidence. And then make a similar dialogue based on the listening material. And let’s come to the last knowledge objective : emotional objectives. You know, according to the simple sentence structure, student feel that .It is not difficult for them to do that. So they are very active in my class, and also can arouse their mouths to speak English. Well, so much for the teaching objectives .let’s come to deal with the third part :the important points and the difficult points. According to the cubiculum, students should understand the listening better and better. So I will encourage my students to do more listening exercises. And also offer them some relaxing situations to improve their confidence. So first, before listening activity, I will teach them some new words and some sentence structure. And tell them the listening skills: Such as, to the prediction, and then take notes and so on. III Teaching methods and studying ways To achieve the three objectives, I would like the students listen carefully and pay more attention when you are listening .And I will use the computer and blackboard as my teaching aids. And you know, the teaching syllabus says that It is necessary for teachers to use modern teaching facilities. And It’s of great help to increate the class density and improve our teaching results, and at the same time, It can arouse students interest in learning English . IV Teaching procedures Here comes to the most important part of my lesson. that is teaching procedure. It includes 5 steps: step I Revision and lead in , step II Learn some new words and sentence structure, step III Listening activity , step IV Consolidation, and the last step V Homework assignment . Step I Now let’s come to the first step. There are 5 activities in this step, and I will spend 8 mines .Of course ,5 activities are almost the same functions .For example , I will use the PPT to explain the five activities. Such as, Who’s that ? yaoming . Do you like him? Yes, I do. Why, He looks very tall and strong and so on .to lead in the five sense verbs: look, feel , taste ,sound ,smell . You know, students are always interested in something which they are very familiar. And this not only presents my teaching context, but also arouses their interesting about my lesson. Step II Learn the new words and sentence structures I will spend 14mins .Because this procedure is very important for students. If they have learn these new important knowledge, they will be easier to understand the listening material. There are also 2 activities in this step. In activity one, I will give some pictures on the PPT to learn some new words .Students use the sense verbs to describe it. May be It is a little difficult for students .So I will give them some help systematically .Because I don’t want to scare my students at the beginning of the lesson. So competition is very necessary for them. And they will work in group together and learn words effectively. In activity two , I also offer them some sentence structures which include the new words and structures. Such as: He looks tall and strong . I will show them on the PPT . And also the negative sentences. Because, you know the new words and sentence are very reverent to the listening material .So they can listen the material easier. Step III Listening practice. Step III is the most important part in my lesson. It will spend 9mins .Because you know students are going to listen and the whole listening is conducted with listening strategy. Such as prediction ,and take note, listen carefully and so on . Because it can exert the students’ imagination, and there are 3 tasks in listening practice. Task 1 Pre-listening I will show them a very simple table on the computer ,and ask them to answer my questions which mentioned in the table . Task 2 While-listening While listening is the main part and it will spends 3mins . Because ,you know , students maybe not do it very well systematically .And then I will give them listening again . Task 3 Post listening I will show them in group to discussion. So they can work together and I also give time for them .After that , I would check the answers and tell the results which group did the best . You know, competition is very necessary. At this process, they learn to cooperate with each other and can unit the students.What’s more, they would be very happy and have a good mood to go on with my lesson. Step IV Consolidation Just like the saying: Practice makes perfect. So consolidation is also important .First .I would like to let my students to read loudly and the follow the tape and read the listening material sentence by sentence. And what’s more, I offer the students to work in role play , imitation the intonation and stress as much as possible . You know, sometimes, there are very important in the listening material . And the last but the least, I would like to let students make a similar dialogue based on the listening material. But I also want them to focus on three things ,that is :intonation ,stress ,sentence structures , especially the sense verbs ,and they will have a discussion in groups . And I will check some groups and encourage them to open their mouths to practice their spoken English, and students may not do it well .So I will give them some necessary help systematically .And you know , at the same time , it not only cultivate their imagination ,but also improve their confident . Step V Homework assignment Finally let’s come to the step v: the homework assignment and this part I will spend 3mins .All together 4 home works are assigned. You know, the first three are very basic elements for the next period ,and the last is a routine work for their practice writing abilities , and this homework , you can never imagine they are very, very create ,and sometimes really amazing to see their work .You never know how well they have mastered the new words and sentence structures after this period .
