Good morning, ladies and gentlemen.
It’s my great pleasure to be here sharing my lesson with you.
By studying this Module, the students will know how to ask and answer someone’s occupation in the future and how to describe someone’s occupation in the future. The sentence patterns“ What will you be in the future?” and “Maybe I’ll be a ….”are the keys and difficult points of this lesson. The study of this lesson will help the students with their daily communication.
In my opinion, the difficult point of this period is to make sure that the students can use the sentence patterns in their daily life correctly.
In this period, I will use some pictures, words and sentence cards, a tape recorder and the multi-media. The students will feel relaxed and agreeable. Also the task-based method, communicated method, group cooperate method will be used in this period.
I made my teaching process as follows.
After greeting each others, they‘ll say the poem:”I’m going to be a driver. I’m going to drive a train…”. It can review the occupations.
Then, they’ll talk about the occupations of their parents. After that, I’ll show a photo of mine. At the time, I was a young girl, I thought I’ll be a dancer in the future. But now I’m not a dancer, I’m a teacher. So just “maybe”
I’ll ask them “Will you be a teacher in the future?”Even yes or no, it doesn’t matter. They can review “Yes, I will.” & “No, I won’t.” Then I’ll ask them “What will you be in the future?” and guide the students to speak out: “I’ll be a….” Here is a new word –future. I’ll compare “picture”with “future”, guide the students sound correctly.
Then, I’ll ask them how about the 4 kids in our book, “What will they be in the future?” After they watch the video, they answered, “Lingling/ Amy/Daming/Sam will be a ….” Here are 4 occupations “writer, film star, footballer, policeman”. I’ll show some pictures about these occupations to help them to understand what they are. After that, I’ll let the students take some examples, like “Jacky Cheng is a film star.” “Messi is a footballer.” That way, I’ll know if they knew. Then the students will complete the table, like “write-writer,dance-dancer, sing-singer,work-worker, drive-driver,…”
They’ll watch the video again, and find out why Lingling will be a writer and why Amy will be a film star. In this part, the students can understand the main contents of this story.Then they should read after the tape, and point to the sentences in their books. After reading, they’ll answer: “Is Sam a policeman now?Why does Sam ask them to come to the police station with him?” It is necessary to check if the students understand the whoe story.
At last, They’ll do some practises. First, fill in the blanks about the story. Sencond, according to the blackboard design, they try to retell the story. Third, make a survey in class.
