[教学重难点分析]
1、本课时的重点为big key中的四个形容词的最高级形式，学会形容词比较与最高级的构词方式，正确使用形容词最高级。
2、本课时的难点在于如何正确运用形容词的最高级，能流畅地朗读对话，并在掌握对话的基础上进一步表演对话。
[课前准备]
1、教师准备
（1）实物投影仪，河马、蓝鲸、喜马拉雅山的图片。
（2）录音机，课文磁带。
（3）有关中国奥运冠军、体育明星的幻灯片。
（4）单词卡片tallest,highest,cleverest,hippo,elephant,Mount Qomolangma。
（5）词组卡片on land,in the sea,in the world,in our class。
2、学生准备
熟读第4课Learn to say的短文，准备表演。

一、热身
1、师生打招呼。
2、学生自由交谈。
3、复习表演第4课的Learn to say，鼓励学生扩充对话内容。
二、新课教学
T：The sun is the biggest of three.Do you know which is the biggest animal on the earth?Which is the highest mountain?Today let’s see who is the cleverest in our class.First let’s learn these ew words.
a.Try to use
1、老师出示图片或以简笔画画出三个不同年龄段的老人。
T：This man is old.The second man is older than him.The third man is older than the two men.Who is the oldest?
S：The third man.
教师在说oldest时要放慢速度，声音稍高。
2、出示卡片older和oldest，带领学生朗读几遍。教师以同样方式教授单词tallest，highest,cleverest。
3、出示以前学过的形容词，总结形容词比较级、最高级的构成方式。
4、完成Try to use中的练习，巩固比较级，最高级的用法。讨论Try to use部分的内容，同桌交流，然后书写。
5、游戏“Put on the hat”。给运动明星戴上合适的帽子。用电脑显示奥运会五环旗介绍奥运会口号faster,higher,stronger（用powerpoint飞入口号字幕，红色突出er）出示近年中国奥运明星的幻灯片。出示tallest,oldest,youngest,fastest,strongest,练习Who is the…-est?...is the …-est?给明星们戴上合适的帽子。
b.Learn to say
1、T：OK,shall we go to the zoo?出示挂图。Look,what animals are they?
学生认读动物，教师板书hippo,blue whale。
T：Listen,what are they talking about？
2、听课文录音，大致了解对话内容。学生找出新单词、词组。
3、出示词组卡片on land,贴在黑板上，学习on land。
T：Is the hippo the biggest animal on land?
S：No,elephant is.（老师在on land旁画简笔画大象）
T：Yes,of course the elephant is.（板书of course）
4、同法教授in the sea,blue whale,in the world,Mount Qomolangma。
5、听录音跟读课文。
6、师生、同桌间朗读对话。
7、请学生根据挂图编一段对话。
三、巩固和延伸
“迷你吉尼斯”——小调查，用形容词最高级说说班上同学的特征。老师给出范围，如eyes,nose,hair,weight,height等。用句子“…is/are…in our class.”练习对话。
