Unit 2 Receiving a visitor
Good morning, my honorable judges. I’m very pleased to have an opportunity to talk about some of my teaching ideas. My topic is “Receiving a visitor”taken from Unit 2 of Secretary English. It is made up of six parts.
I. Analysis of the Teaching Material
It’s a reading and speaking lesson (45mins) which talks about receiving a visitor. It is also the second period of this Unit. This period plays an important role in this Unit. Students will get the information of how to do when receiving a visitor by reading a short passage. Then let them find sentences the secretary use to offer greetings when receiving a visitor, which can
make students familiar with the language in the real situation. What’s more, leading students to read the sentences with intonation is very important for the following competition of Role play
Activity 5 Memory game: Choose your favorite animal.

Then ask a student to choose his favorite animal. There is a dialogue or situation, students should give the correct sentences according to the given information. In this way, I enable students to use the correct sentences in the different situations efficiently. At the same time, it awakes the students’ motivation of learning.
