Unit 2 Lesson1 I am really happy!
Hello! Everyone , Today I’m very pleased to have an opportunity to talk about some of my teaching ideas . My topic is “ I am really happy !” taken from lesson 1 of Unit 2 in Book 2 . It’s made up of four parts. They are “My understanding of this lesson; My teaching theories, methods and aids; Teaching procedures and Blackboard design.”
Part 1 My understanding of this lesson
First:The analysis of the teaching material:
In this lesson, the students will learn some new words and sentences, they can practice their listening and speaking ability. At the same time, they will receive some moral education: learn to cooperate with others.
Second:Teaching aims:
1).Knowledge aims
Grasp the new words and sentences.
2). Ability aims
(1) Develop the students’ ability of listening and speaking
(2) Be able to express feelings and likes or dislikes to others.
3). Emotional aims
Make the students learn to cooperate with others and show interests in English.
Third:Teaching important and difficult points
1). Grasp the new words and sentences.
2) Improve the students’ ability of listening and speaking. 3) Make the students learn to cooperate with others.
Fourth:Something about the students
1). Most of the students can remember the words and use them correctly, but they don’t often use English to express themselves and communicate with others.
2). Some of them are not active in class because they are afraid of making mistakes.
Part 2 : My teaching theories, methods and aids
Before dealing with this lesson, I’ll do my best to carry out the following theories: Make the students become the real masters in class while the teacher himself acts as director. Let them receive some moral education while they are learning the English language.
In order to make the students take part in the teaching, I’ll choose some suitable teaching methods , For example: Project teaching method, Double activities teaching method, Question –and – answer activity teaching method, listen –speak activity, free discussion method , Pair work or individual work method. In order to make the class lively and interesting , I will use the multi-media computer as teaching aids.
Part 3 : Teaching procedures
Step 1. Greetings and Revision Greet each other, then ask the students to describe their friends’ appearance. (Purpose : Practice oral English and review learned knowledge.) Step 2 . Lead-in and Introduce the aims of this lesson Show two pictures of the students, to bring in the new subject: “ I am really happy !”, then introduce the aims of this lesson. (Purpose: Let the students know about what we’ll study and arouse their interests in English.)
Step 3 . New lesson
Project 1.Words
I’ll show the new words through some interesting pictures on the screen.
1. upset [ʌp' set] 烦乱的,不安的 2. disappointed [.disə' pɔintid] 失望的 3. stressed [strest] 有压力的 4. nervous ['nə:vəs] 紧张的,焦虑的 5. opinion [ə'pinjən] 看法,意见 6. knowledge ['nɔlidʒ] 知识, 见闻 7. control [kən'trəul] 克制,控制 8. forget [fə'get] 忘记,忽略 9. understand [.ʌndə'stænd] 理解,了解 10. valuable ['væljuəbl] 贵重的,有价值的
Lead the students to read them together, then practice in small groups to grasp them, and correct their pronunciation.
(Purpose :Make the students interested in English and remember the new words happily and easily.)
Project 2. listening practice
Let the students listen to the tape and complete Task 1and 2 on Page 17, and correct the answers.

(Purpose:Improve the students’listening ability .)
Project 3 Word game
Lead the students to guess the words about feelings in the sentences on the screen.
1. I made a mistake . Mother is a little angry . 2. I just win the game. I’m__________ . 3. He doesn’t win the game . He is ______ . 4. In order to win the game, we are _______. 5. Our teacher asks me to speak in class, but I’m a little ______. 6. I don’t know what to do. I’m very _______.
(Purpose:Make the class lively and interesting, make the students grasp the words firmly.. )
Project 4 Speaking practice
Let the students read the sentences in project 3 and lead the students to summarize the sentence patterns about feelings and likes or dislikes.
1. How do you feel today?
2. I am glad /sad /disappointed /stressed…
3. You look happy / worried /angry…
4. She feels nervous/ upset…
5. Do you like …? Yes, I do. / Yes. I like it very much.
No. I don’t like it.
Then give the students several minutes to make some dialogues according to the sentence patterns in small groups, and act out in class.
(Purpose :Make the students take an active part in the teaching and practice their speaking ability, what’s more, let them learn to cooperate with others and enjoy the happiness of study.)
Project 5 language points and exercises
I’ll explain the use of some words, and let the students complete Task 4 on Page 18, and correct the answers.
1. opinion in one’s opinion依照某人的看法
_____________ (依照我的看法),we should express our feelings directly.
2. valuable → more valuable → most valuable
e.g. Friendship is ____________ (valuable) than money.
(Purpose of my designing: I want to know if my students master what they have learnt in this lesson, and I want to let them have the ability of analyzing expressions.)
Step 4. Summary
Go over what we have learnt with the students together.
⑴ . Grasp some words and sentence patterns .
⑵ . Be able to express feelings and likes or dislikes to others.
⑶ . Develop the ability of listening and speaking.
⑷ . Learn to cooperate with others and experience the happiness of study.
Purpose: Encourage the students to take part in the teaching as much as possible.
Step 5. Homework
Make some dialogues to express feelings and likes or dislikes.

In my opinion, the blackboard design can reflect the teacher’s ability of leading the students to grasp the language points easily. I write them on the blackboard in order to tell the students it is the import points in this lesson, I want to make the design inductive, instructive and artistic.
