Good afternoon,judges! It’s my great pleasure to be here sharing my lesson with you. The lesson plan I am going to talk about is from, Book1. Unit 12 .Films Writing. The topic is “My favourite film”.I’ll prepare to say the lesson from the following 7 parts.
Part I. The Theoretical Basis
First, I’d like to show my theoretical basis. According to the current English Teaching syllabus, language learning theory and learning by doing theory, the Ss are the real masters in the class while the teacher acts as a director. I will develop the Ss’ speaking and writing skills and enlarge their vocabularies..
Part II. Analysis of the Teaching Material
1. Status & Function
Writing is as an important skill as listening, speaking and reading for the students to learn English as a foreign language, and that is what I want to emphasize in this teaching period.
According to the teaching material and Ss, I set the teaching aims as well as demands as the following: .
2. Teaching aims and demands
(1) Knowledge aims:
Know how to use the useful expressions and the frequently-used sentences to express their ideas.
(2) Ability aims:
Ss will be the real masters in the class.
Ss will be able to
① develop the writing ability.
② train the ability of cooperation
(3) Moral aims:
Train and arouse Ss’ interests and confidence in learning English.
3. Teaching keys and difficult points
The teaching keys point is how to express their own ideas with the words and phrases they’ve learned in this unit.
and difficult point is how to improve the Ss’ writng abilities.
Part III. Teaching Methods & Studying Ways
Now let’s focus on the ways of teaching and learning.
As we all know: good sense of English learning is so important. To achieve the teaching aims, I follow the “student-centered” principle. Make the Ss the real masters in class while the teacher acts as a director. The “Task-based” teaching method is adopted during the whole class. What’s more, to increase Ss’ interest for learning, I’ll make full use of modern equipment, encouragement and ]team work method.
Learning is as important as teaching. While learning, Ss should use their eyes, ears, mouth and heart to see, to listen, to speak and to feel. Ss should learn by reading, speaking, writing, cooperating, discussing and evaluating to be successful language learners.
Part IV. Teaching Aids
I’ll use a multimedia, a blackboard and related work sheet as my teaching aids in the class.
Part V. Teaching Procedure
According to the demands of English Curriculum Standard for vocational school students, I divide the process of English writing into three steps for the students, collecting information before class, writing about their favourite film briefly, revising the drafts with the help of the teacher.
Step1.Lead in
1).Do you often go to the cinema?
2).What’s your favourite film?
They can discuss the questions in pairs or groups, then ask some of them to answer the question.
Purpose: Train the ability of cooperation and their speaking abilities.
Step2.Presentation
Show the students an article about my favourite film.
When I first saw the movie,I don’t appreciate it like I do now.Because I was so young that I didn’t get the main idea when I first saw it. Just recently I saw the movie again. What an amazing and moving story. That movie teaches you so much about life and the meaning of it. That life isn’t as bad as most people feel. Forrest Gump, the innocent man can impact so many lives with his innocence. The meaning of the movie to me is that everyone needs to have a better outlook on life. That we need to appreciate more of the little things and not let the big things hold us back. Althoughlife may throw us trials and tribulations like a box of chocolates, we just have to bite into it and get through it even if we don’t like it. I just love the movie.And anyone who hasn’t seen it or who thinks that don’t like it . I seriously suggest seeing it or seeing it again.It truly is amazing.
Purpose: The topic of films are easy to arouse Ss’ interest, so to begin with I adopt a real one of mine when I design my teaching material. The article shows the students a good sample about how all parts of a passage fit together well, and helps them learn more about how to organize information with the indication of the five questions after reading. Therefore, the students can get a clearer idea about what and how to write before they write their drafts.
Step3.Practice
1. Before writing, let Ss to talk about the following questions .
1).Do you often go to the cinema?
2).What’s your favourite film?
3).What is the film about?
4).Is there any actor or actress in the film who impressed you most? How?
5).What can you learn from the film?
2. Share their informations that collected before class. Then I tell students to write the topic sentence and use the transitional words to connect sentences into a whole.
Purpose: Then with the teacher’s help, the students will feel it quite easy to write just simple phrases or sentences according to the topic after the model. Next they work in groups to collect more information and write more phrases they’ve found.
3. Let the Ss write the passage about their favourite film.
Purpose:They get fully prepared and begin to write freely about their own experiences with clear ideas in mind. In this way the students’ capability of autonomous learning is strengthened.
Step4.Drills
Ask some Ss to read their works and make assessment by themselves.
Purpose:And as the last step, the students have the chance to make assessment by themselves. That is the reflection of both how much they’ve achieved and what they’re still weak in. In a word, at no matter what level their English is, the students will achieve improvement more or less on writing skills, learning style and expressing their personal preferences in this teaching period.
Step5.Homework
Preview the Attributive Clause .
Purpose:Consolidate the knowledage.

Reflection after Teaching
The students can't find proper words to express their opinions for they are lack of enough vocabulary.So in the next period ,I should encourage them to read more and memorize new words,which are the base of learning English.
