Lesson Plan Interpretation NSE Book1 Module3 My new school Unit1 There are 46 students in my class
Hello every one.It is my honor to stand here and interpret my lesson.Thelesson plan I am going to talk about is from NSE Book 1 Module 3 My new school,Unit 1 There are 46 students in my class.I will explan how to teach and why do so from the following 5 aspects:the theoretical basis, understanding of the teaching material, teaching methods and studying ways, teaching procedure, blackboard design. Ⅰ.The theoretical basis According to the New Teaching Corriculum,Ss play the main roles during the class. So,all the activities applied in class should focus on them.In order to highlight Ss`core-role position, most of the important knowledge should be acquired through their own experience. The teacher won`t talk too much.Instead,he/she will provide practising opportunities as many as possible. Ⅱ.Understanding of the teaching material My understanding of the teaching material includes 3 parts:the state and the function, teaching objectives, the important and difficult points. Firstly, let`s focus on the state and the function.Module 3 unit 1 is mainly about describing sb/sth existing in somewhere. It requires Ss to be able to use structure“there be”.Besides the new words before going to the key part---grammar. That is all for the teaching material and the new teaching curriculum,in order to fulfill the teaching task of this lesson.I set the following objects: 1. knowledge objective By the end of the class ,Ss will be able to use the structure of “there be”to express sb/sth existing in somewhere and be able to use its negative structure, ask general qustions of the structure and answer them. 2. ability objective During the class,Ss will be encouraged to practise“there be”structure as much as possible. They should be able to describe sb/sth`s existence in an objective way and ask for information about their existence and answer it. 3. moral objective As Ss are encouraged to practise as much as possible,I will ask them to describe the things around them so they will get familiar with their living and studying environment. So much for the objectives.Next, let`s look at the third part:the important and difficult points.According to the national curriculum of English ,it is advocatable to let Ss learn the new knowledge through their own experiences.I encourage them to practise more and let them find the rules by themselves. They will find out when to use“there is”and when to use “there are”.They will also learn how to change the structures into their negative forms and ask general questions .So much emphasis should be put on this part. This is how I deal with the important point .This is also how I treat the difficult point,as the two are the same. Ⅲ.Teaching methods and studying ways That is all for my understanding of the teaching material. Now,let`s come to the teaching methods and studying ways. During the class,I will ask Ss to observe their surrounding environment and describe it.They can also learn through discussing, cooperating and communicating. I will use the blackboard ,computer and cards with different numbers on them, tapes on the text and radio as my teaching aids. Ⅳ.Teaching procedure Next, we will go to the most important part---the teaching procedure. It includes 5 steps:step1---lead in;step2---vocabulary;step3---grammar and text;step4---disscuss and practise;step5---homework. Step1.lead in(5mins) In the lead in step.I will ask Ss to look around our classroom and then answer the question“What do we have in our classroom?”This question is easy for them to answer because they aae quite familiar with the classroom.During this, they will surely come up with something they can`t name.At this time,we will move to the second step---vocabulary. Step2.vocabulary(10mins) In this step,I wll connet the new words to the real objects in the classroom and school. As for the words about numbers, I will use the cards I have prepared. After that,I will point to defferent objects in the classroom and change the cards in my hand to ask Ss speak in English“What is this/that/it?”Ss are often active in ths kind of activity, because they all want to be the most quickly in reaction. This is an interesting and effetive way to learn new words. Step3.grammar and text(15mins) Grammar and text is the most important part.As it is new to Ss,I will give them some clues and examples before they can find out the rules themselves. For example,I can say“I have a computer and I put it in my room.”Then I conbine these 2 sentences into 1,using the “there be”structure---There is a computer in my room. Then I write this group of sentences on the blackboard. After this,I will ask some Ss what they have and where they put them.Other Ss express the same meaning with “there be”.They can practise according to the example and soon get used to the structure. This is the declare sentence structure of “there be”.And next,we move to the negative form.I will give them a suppose---if what we heard and what we just said is not ture, wwe can say“There is not a computer in my room.”Then we will carry on the practice as the declare sentence structure. The general question structure will be learnd in the same way.One thing I want to point out is the use of “some” and“any”.Ss will make mistakes when using them at first because they are the same meaning in Chinese. It deserves our particular attention. So I will emphasis that “any”is used in negative and question forms while “some” is used in affirmative form. In this step,I will try to talk less and encourage Ss to practise more. The purpose is that the rules found by Ss themseves will be much more impresive. After that,Ss listen to the tape on the text and read it in order to get more gamiliar with the structure and prepare foe the discussion、practice in the next step. Step4.discuss and practise(13mins) After the major step,I would like Ss to work in pairs.I will give both of them two different pictures. One with kinds of fruits on it and the other with different stationery.Neither of them will let his/her partner know what is on his/her own picyure. So there is information gap between each pair.S1 asks S2 what is on S2`s picture using“Is /Are there…?”Then S2 answers in complete sentences“Yes,there is/are.There is/are+(number) ….”or“No,there isn`t/aren`t.There isn`t/aren`t(any/number) ….”While asking,S1 is required to take notes as he/she will have to give a report after that. Then they will change their asking-answering roles and do it in the same way again. Finally,we will check whether the information they have got is correct.By doing this,Ss can have a deeper impression on “there be”structure and use them flexibly. This is another way to practise our important point. Step5.homework(2mins) At the end of the class, I will assign some homework.Ss are required to write a short passage with declare affirmative, negative and general question structures of “there be”to describe the things in their own house. Ⅴ.Blackboard design There is a/an… There are some(number) …
There isn`t a/an… There aren`t any /(number) … Is there a/an …?---Yes,there is/No,there isn`t. Are there any/(number) …?---Yes, there are/No,there aren`t.
