《Cartoons and comic strips are around us》说课稿
本课的主题是卡通和漫画。这是现代社会成年人和儿童都喜欢的休闲消遣方式。为此,从耳熟能详的卡通形象入手,用学生已经掌握的句型来引入课文教学是比较有效的。本课的教学目的是通读课文,了解课文大意,并掌握课文中重要语言点。因此,我这样设计课堂教学:
一.引入阶段:
展示“白雪公主”、“加菲猫”“米老鼠”“狮子王”等卡通形象。通过师问生答、接龙的方式,引入Cartoons and Comic Strips are around us. 的主题。
( Name these cartoon characters and introduce them with one or two sentences one by one without repeating. )

二.快速阅读,了解大意
快速阅读课文每个段落的首句和末句,找出每段的段落大意。
帮助学生对课文的结构有通盘认识,为接下来的精读课文打下基础。
1.B gives a definition of the cartoon and the comic strip.
2. A is about the birth of cartoons and comic strips.
3. D shows us the significance of a cartoon.
4. C gives a description of the cartoon.
5. F introduces some well-known characters and topics of today's cartoon and comic strips.
6. E describes the present condition of traditional hand-drawn comics.
7. G tells us that both adults and children enjoy reading cartoons and comic strips.
通过对每个段落首句和末句的略读,达到快速掌握每段大意的目的,也是高中阶段学生必须掌握的一种阅读技能。在此通过有意识的训练,达到提高学生阅读能力的目的。

三.重点句讲解,扫除理解障碍,掌握语言点。
1. People often find it hard to put their feelings into words. 人们常常会发现自己很难用言语表达感情
it 在这儿是形式宾语,真正的宾语是to put their feeling into words
eg: The students thought it very difficult to translate this long story into English.
2. With the improvement of printing and drawing techniques, modern cartoons and comic strips had become children`s favourite by the early 20th century (around the 1920s).
随着印刷和绘画技术的改进,现代漫画和连环画在20世纪早期(大约在20世纪20年代) 成了孩子们最喜欢的读物。
with 随着 ( at the same time as) :
eg: With the development of education, more and more modern teaching aids are being used.
随着教育的发展,越来越多的现代教具被采用了。
Her hair became grey with the passing of years.
随着年代的流逝,她的头发变得花白了。
3. other than
eg. I`ve borrowed some books other than novels
The truth is quite other than what you think.
There is nobody here other than me.
4. deal with
This is a book dealing with computer.
It is said that your boss is difficult to deal with.
He is used to dealing with matters of this sort.
5. out of question / out of the question
eg. As for going back--- that is quite out of the question.
Sunday is out of the question, as I`ll have to attend a meeting.

四.听力理解训练
1.第一遍倾听全文录音,要求学生合上课本,对全文有个整体印象。
2.第二遍逐段听。在每段重点句子处暂停,针对不同程度的学生,分派难易度不同的任务。如:复述句子、翻译句子、回答问题等。
此部分的教学设计既是听力训练,又能增进学生对课文的进一步理解。这堂课是课文的引入课。我运用了略读训练和听力训练两种主要手段,辅以关键句的解释,基本上可以达到设定的教学目的。

1. Improve the skills of skimming and listening.
2. Master the main idea of the text

Cartoons and comic strips are around us.
Teaching modes:
1. Free talk of Cartoon characters
2. Group-study (Share the experience on watching cartoons )
3. Text-skimming
4. Listening practice
Teaching Procedure:
一、Free talk of Cartoon characters
Mickey Mouse, Garfield the cat, snow white, superman…
二、Group-study
Some volunteers share the experience on watching cartoons.
三、Text-skimming
Skim the text by reading the first and last sentences of each paragraph and answer the questions.
B gives a definition of the cartoon and the comic strip.
A is about the birth of cartoons and comic strips.
D shows us the significance of a cartoon.
C gives a description of the cartoon.
F introduces some well-known characters and topics of today's cartoon and comic strips.
E describes the present condition of traditional hand-drawn comics.
G tells us that both adults and children enjoy reading cartoons and comic strips.
四、 Explanation of some key sentences.
People often find it hard to put their feelings into words.

五、Listening practice
1、Listen to tape with the books closed and try to catch the main idea of the whole text.
2. Listen to the material paragraph by paragraph. Some students are asked to repeat the key sentences, while some of them are asked to translate them. Some questions are for further understanding.
a. Since people often find it hard to put their feelings into words, what new means of expressing feelings are used ?
b. What is a set of humorous drawings that tell us a funny story?
c. Can you describe your feeling after watching the cartoon on Page 80?
d. What is the food for thought in addition to being amused?
e. Which one do you prefer, computer-made comics or hand-drawn ones? Why?
六、Homework
1. Listen to the tape and read after if.
2. Exercises on Page 82.
