Unit 3 Last Weekend B. Let’s Read
Ladies and gentlemen,
Good morning. I am , from . I’m glad to share my teaching design with you.
1. 教学内容
Firstly, let’s focus on the analysis of teaching content.
The teaching content is Part B” let’s read “ , of Unit 3 of PEP Primary English, Book 8 , for Grade 6 level. This unit is mainly about : students could express what they did at the past time . The lesson is the sixth of Unit 3 . It’s a passage. It mainly deals with some past tense words and know some past tense sentences .
2. 教学对象
Secondly, it is about the students.
The students are from grade6, after 4 to 6 years of English studying, they have got a lot of abilities in English, such as listening, speaking, reading and writing.
3. 教学目标
So, I set the following aims.
To read and understand the passage of “Let’s Read.” Then fill in the blanks and answer the questions after reading.
To read and understand the passage is the most important part. The other difficult parts are the new sentences, these are:
1. We read funny tongue twisters together.
2. Suddenly my kite flew into the lake.
3. I was very grateful to him.

Fourthly, it talks about teaching methods.
In this lesson, I will mainly use “Task-based teaching method”, “Communicative language teaching method” and “TPR teaching method”, and so on.
In this lesson , I will use the following teaching methods to help the students in understanding this passage: the Direct Method, Grammar Translation Method, Audio-Visual Method and also the Gaming Teaching Method.
5. 教学过程
So According to the Course standard of English, the foreign language learning guidelines,I’ve arranged the following steps in my lesson plan.
Step 1. Greeting and Warming-up
After greeting with the Ss, I will begin the lesson by singing the chant “Did you go to the park? Yes ,I went to the park …”together with the Ss.
Purpose:
The purpose of this is to form a better English learning surrounding for the Ss, and, at the same time, it provides situations to review the learnt knowledge for the next step.
Step 2. Presentation
We will go on a free talk. While the free talk time is in progress, I’ll write down the 3 words on the board, so each student can clearly see.
1. Suddenly.
2. Return.
3. Grateful.
As those three words are new for the student and two of them are in the most difficult sentences in this lesson. I’ll explain the meaning of the words and encourage all to read and say each word several times, until each student feels comfortable with the pronunciation of each word.
The purpose of this is to present the new words and sentences in the situation, which relates to the Ss’ real life experiences, to help the Ss understand the language easily and naturally.
After we have practised the words, phrases, and sentences, let's make some dialogues, so here comes let’s read .
We can begin by reading the first paragraph, then answering the questions.
1. How did “I” get to Mike’s home?
2. What did they do in the morning?
It is easy for the students to find the answers about those two questions. And after that, let them listen and repeat the paragraph for several times, until all of them feel familiar with that paragraph.
The second paragraph is short and easy, let the students read then fill in the blanks.
Then I ______ to the park by bike. I _______ kites. It ______ a windy day.
Suddenly, my kite _______ into the lake.
Allow the students to read for a short time after completing their tasks. Encourage all students to check for any errors in their own answers.
The third paragraph. Listen to the tape , fill in the blanks: Jumped___the lake swam___ the kite
Returned___ me .
Step 3. Practice
Then I will arrange several activities such as listen and repeat, watch the VCD, reading contest, etc, to help the students to get familiar with this passage, encourage all students to read the entire text and complete the exercises 1 and 2 on Page 33.
Step4. Conclusion
In this step, I will guide the Ss to conclude the key words and sentences .
And also, I will tell the students ” Dogs are our good friends. They are friendly to us. We should love them”.
The purpose of this is to stimulate Ss’ interest of learning English and wide their knowledge about communication across cultures.
And at the end of this class, I will give the students the homework like this:
