Classical Music: Beethoven
Teaching objectives:
By the end of the lesson, students will be better able to
1) Understand a brief summary of Beethoven’s life
2) Use the phrases of the text properly
3) Repeat the text through performing

Teaching Procedure:
Step 1 Warming-up & lead-in
Activity 1 Show some portraits of Beethoven

Is he handsome?
Does he look happy?
Step 2 Skim the text
Activity 1 Find out the phrases
Scan the text to find the phrases of each paragraph which explain the reason why Beethoven was not happy .

Make the text into 4 scenes : 1. Childhood, 2. a Terrible Blow, 3. Fighting against the fate, 4. the End of Life
Ask the students to perform according to the text.
Step 6 Summary
Go through the important points and difficult points of this lesson with the students once again.
Come to the blackboard to review the adjectives of this lesson.
