Teaching Aims:
1.Learn from what aspects to describe a person.
2.Learn how to write a composition about a person.
Teaching Tools: computer, cards, projector.
Teaching Steps:
Step 1 lead-in:
1.Ask two students to tell the class something about Stephen Hawking, according to what they have learned in this unit.
And then let students work in pairs and find out the words and expressions from the text.
Write down the words and expressions on the lines.
2.Watch a documentary (in Chinese) about Stephen Hawking, a great scientist still alive in the world. Let students have a general idea for what should be included when describing a person.
Ask a few students to say out the topics that they hear in the documentary, such as name, birthplace, physical features, characteristics, works, activities he made to the physics field.
Step 2 Pre-writing
1.Divide the class into several groups. Every group of students is given some pieces of cards, which include expressions or sentences describing a person. Let students read the sentences on cards and then decide what topics they belong to.
