STATUS AND FUNCTION ★This lesson of unit 7 I picked up today is centered around how to cook. At first, review the procedure of fried rice and noodles; Next learn how to cook western food like making a sandwich with butter, honey and a pear; Then let the students practice making food in class and report the cooking procedure to the class; Finally show some pictures or videos and write a passage about how to cook chicken soup or others. ★By training the four abilities such as listening, speaking, reading, and writing, at the same time, it also increases the communicative, cooperative, creative abilities; tries to mobilize the enthusiasm of practicing by the class teaching, encourages the students to boldly practice English and use the target language to communicate with others in the real life situation; trains their self-independent ability; and let them thank their parents for hardwork in cooking. I think it’s very important to the growth of a student.. (In order to reach these goals effectively , I adjusted the construction of the textbook of this section. For example, some language points will be dealed with in the next period ,and especially teaching will not be given in the section’s order.) 2.TEACHING DIFFICULTIES ①Listening difficulty: As a countryside junior high school, it’s not very easy for the students to understand what the teacher and students say in English. ②Speaking difficulty: Since our students are afraid of making mistakes in speaking English, it’s not easy for them to open their mouth and speak English.
