PEP Book 7 Unit 3 What Are You Going to Do?

Good morning, everyone! My name is . I come from . I am honored to have this chance to express myself here.
The content of my lesson is Part A Let’s read in Unit 3 of PEP Primary English Book 7 .My teaching plan includes 4 parts: the analysis of the teaching material, teaching methods and learning methods 、teaching procedures and blackboard design.
一.The analysis of the Teaching Material
First, let us talk about the teaching material.
The topic of this unit is "weekend plan." By studying this unit, the students should know how to express a weekend plan with the sentence pattern “be going to ...” This lesson is about Liu Yun’s weekend plan.
Reading is a very important part in English teaching. New Curriculum standard requires that students should learn some skills of getting information through reading. They also need to enlarge their knowledge, and develop their reading skills through it.
Students will learn some simple reading skills, and be able to express their weekend plan in this lesson.
According to my understanding of the material and students, I set the following teaching aims:
⑴、The first one is the goal of knowledge .
Students can read and understand the passage, and write down Liu Yun’s weekend plan after reading.
⑵、The second one is the goal of abilities
a. Students can retell the main idea of the passage as the third person and master the sentence pattern “be going to”
b. Students can develop their reading skills.
⑶、The third one is the goal of emotion
Students can describe the weekend plan. Make sure that they can build up their self-confidence and learn how to arrange their time reasonably.
Teaching key points and difficult points:
⑴、key points: students can retell the main idea of the passage in the third person and master the sentence structure “be going to”
⑵、difficult points: students need to know how to change the personal pronoun when retelling
Teaching aids:
I will prepare some forms in which the students need to fill when doing the listening 、a recorder and the multi-media will help me to achieve the teaching aims.
二、Teaching methods and learning methods:
According to the demand of The New English Curriculum - “adopting the methods of activities; promote the participation, I will design some tasks based on the characteristics of the senior students, such as fill in the forms while listening and reading. I’ll also set up situations, such as arranging a series of activities for a mother’s birthday. In this way, the students can apply the language better.
The students can learn the language through the autonomous learning and cooperative learning, such as group dialogue and finishing the composition by themselves.
三、Teaching procedures
The teaching procedures include five parts: warm-up, preview, presentation, practice, consolidation and extension.
Step 1 Warm up
1. Sing a song “What are you going to do?”
I think singing songs can create a relaxing environment for the students. So in this section, I plan to sing “what are you going to do” with students.
2. Free talk
I design the free talking between teachers and students. This will bring us close. And make the students enter into my teaching as soon as possible. Then ask the students to talk about the pictures like this:
A: What are you going to do?
B: I’m going to ...
A: How do you go there?
B: I go there by...
Students can talk freely one by one with the pictures. And at the same time it provides situations to review learned knowledge for the next step.
Step 2 Pre-view
After that, we’ll have a listening exercise. It says that Chen jie is going to do something on the weekend. What is she going to do? Fill the form and answer.

After the listening practice, the students should report their results in the third person. This will make some preparation for the retelling in the third person later.
Step 3 Presentation
1. Guess “ What is Liu Yun going to do on the weekend ?”
When it’s finished, I will tell the students that Chen jie is going to have a busy weekend. Then introduce Liu Yun. She is going to have a busy weekend, too. But what is she going to do on the weekend. Before we read the passage, let’s guess what Liu Yun is going to do on the weekend. The students can guess freely. It can encourage students’ desire to read.
2. Task 1 :Read quickly and quietly, number the pictures.
After a quick looking through, the students need to number the pictures in time. The first reading is to get a general idea of this passage. And numbering the pictures can make them understand it very well.
3. Task 2: Read carefully and finish the tasks.
The second reading is for detailed information. The students need to read this passage carefully in two parts: Saturday plan and Sunday plan.
(1)、Read Saturday plan, Tick or cross.
( ) ①Liu Yun is going to the park.
( ) ②.She is going to buy some pictures.
( ) ③.She is going to play sports at home.
⑵、Read Sunday plan , answer the questions.
①.Where is she going?
②.Who is she going to visit?
③.What is she going to do in the evening?
This is to cultivate students’ ability of getting and processing information. After the careful reading of the main contents and detailed information, I will ask the students to judge and answer the profound questions with Wh. This is to check their understanding.
During reading, I will also guide them to read the passage in detail and mark the important information . Pay attention to train the students’ learning awareness.
4. Task 3: Read loudly, write Liu Yun’s weekend plan.
After getting a general idea of the passage, I will arrange the students to read the text aloud. Then I will organize them to discuss and finish the forms of Liu Yun’s weekend plan in groups.

The third reading is to instruct the students to conclude the reading material .This can cultivate their good learning habit and strategy. When students retell Liu Yun’s weekend plan, I will also write down the answers on the blackboard. It will give them a better understanding.
Step 4 Practice
Task: Listen to the tape and retell the story.
Instruct the student to use pictures and key words to retell this passage in the third person. For example, she is going to ... This can also cultivate their good learning strategy.
Step 5 Consolidation and extension
In this section, I will use situational teaching. This will guide and inspire the students to express themselves in English.
Situation setup:I think you are going to have a busy weekend , too .Because your mother’s birthday is coming next week. What are your family going to do? Think it over and write down something about your weekend plan.
I ask some questions. The students will try to speak out their weekend plan according to the answers.
Questions:
1. What are you going to do tomorrow / on the weekend?
2. What is your father/brother/sister/grandma/... going to do?
3. What is she/he going to buy?
4. Where are you going?
5. How are you going there?
6. Are you happy?
The close-to-life situation design can create a comfortable and warm air for the students. This section can help the students to use language flexibly and innovatively so that their communication skill can be promoted.
Homework
Write something about your weekend plan after class.
In the final homework section, through finishing the task of “write something about your weekend plan after class”, the students not only can speak out the language and apply the knowledge they acquired but also can put theory into practice instead of just receiving it.

I list Liu Yun’s weekend plan on the blackboard. The students will clearly know the content of the passage. It can set an example for them to follow
