STEP 1.
You can begin by drawing the small shape of Gru's head, and then add the facial guidelines. You will then draw the guidelines for the arms, torso, hips, and legs.
STEP 2.
All you have to do here is thicken the head shape, and then draw the one ear, and turtle neck collar like you see here.
STEP 3.
Draw the nose, and then begin the eye lining and smile. When that is done you can draw out the shapes of the shoulders, arms and some of the hands like so.
STEP 4.
Okay, as you can see here Gru is somewhat top heavy. All you need to do now is draw out his hands and fingers, and then draw out the scarf that is snuggly wrapped around his neck. Once that is all done, you can then finish drawing out the torso, which also happens to be his jacket.
STEP 5.
Draw in the eyes in more finishing detail, and then add the eyebrows as well as color them in like so. Gru doesn't have any head hair, so you don't have to worry about drawing hair. All you have to do in this step is draw out, and color in the strips on Gru's scarf, and then draw a zipper line on his coat.
STEP 6.
You have now reached the last drawing step which means all you have to do is draw out his legs, and then his small looking feet. Once that is done, all you have to do is erase the lines and shapes that you drew in step one.
