Impressive Hastings
Arriving late night in Hastings, the coolness together with little rain and wind gave us a big shock. It seemed that autumn attacked people sud-denly.
The loneliness I felt on my first trip abroad became stronger immediately. After a sleepless night, I walked all the way to Hastings College, where we would be trained for 3 weeks, feeling a little bit cold. The cloudy weather made people gloomy, also a 50-minute walk made me tired, nearly exhausted. At that moment, I began to think of my family, especially my son.
The feeling became better the moment I start-ed my class. The first teacher was a man from Wales, who spoke English fluently. After that, I got a woman teacher who was very patient and kind, I think. In the afternoon, I learned teaching method-ology from Rosey. She was very lively, full of expe-rience. She presented ways of teaching vocabulary, grammar. It was the teachers who made us forget we were in a foreign country. Then it was also at that time I began to pay more attention to the scenery.
Hastings is an old town, which was famous for the Battle of Hastings. The town houses were fan-tastic. You could see trees and flowers everywhere. Birds flew around the houses in the blue sky. The gentle wind surrounded you and made you very comfortable. We were all amazed by the natural environment.
The trip to London, Cambridge and Oxford brought us back to the old century. The buildings were in European Style, full of carvings.
Finally, I want to say I was impressed most by the polite manners English people have. They told you the way patiently, even ordinary people. Also they obeyed the rules. At the traffic lights, no po-licemen stood there. All the drivers slowed down, stopped, no accident happened. What a big sur-prise!
In a word, the trip to Hastings was great. The impression will stay in my mind forever.
