文本解读和教学设计
一、文本解读
人教版教材选修7 Unit2的阅读材料是一篇科幻小说。故事借助丰富的描述心理状态的形容词,细致入微地描述了女主人公矛盾、恍惚的内心世界,栩栩如生地刻画了机器人富于人性化的细节,这种亦幻亦真的故事情节充分反映出科幻作品的魅力,值得欣赏和学习。但文章篇幅长,词汇量大,对多数学生而言相当有难度。本文的重点落在理解女主人公变化微妙的内心世界及文中出现的一系列描述心理感受的词汇,在文本结构上,本文借主人公的内心情感变化,将情节一步步推向高潮,即沿着情感线(para2-11),有beginning, development, climax 和ending。以这条主线梳理下来,重点又落在 development 和climax 上,此处是女主人公情感发生转折并和一开始形成鲜明的对比,培养学生对细节推断和理解能力。另外,本单元的话题是机器人,本篇文章作为主阅读课,它在一定程度上承载着用事说理的目的,即科技与人的关系,所以通过对机器人法则的探讨和标题的解读,引导学生进行批判性阅读。同时本文一些地道的表达可能会对学生的阅读造成障碍,如“It would be a bonus.”和“As a favor”,所以在阅读过程中应给予适当地处理。
二、教学设计

教学目标:

通过本节学习,学生能理解故事内容和了解女主人公感情和心理的变化,理解文中出现的一系列描述心理感受的词汇并简单运用部分,如:
alarmed/alarming, absurd, awful, satisfied/satisfying/satisfaction, embarrassed/embarrassing, disturbed/disturbing, ridiculous, amazed, household,accompany(sb),(offer) sympathy, test(out), envy(sb)…
②语言技能
通过本节的学习,学生能用部分目标词汇描述他人以及自己在特定情境下的心理感受;学生能使用恰当的阅读方法与技能,如快速搜索信息,猜词义,信息分析和推断能力;更好地掌握小说的写作框架,即“开始-发展-高潮-结局”。
③学习策略
独立思考与合作学习相结合。
④情感态度
深入理解女主人公感情和心理的变化,学会欣赏小说并从中获得学习英语的乐趣;在学习过程中,培养批判性阅读思维,思考人和科技的关系。
⑤文化意识
通过对该文学作品的学习,了解英美国家的一些文化,达到跨文化交际的目的。
教学重难点:
本文的重难点在于理解女主人公变化微妙的内心世界及文中出现的一系列描述心理感受的词汇。

5. Reading for critical thinking
① T: The company was pleased with Tony’s report. Because the first law states that a robot must harm human beings or allow them to be harmed., they believed Tony had made it. So how do you think so?
② Title “satisfaction Guaranteed”
T: Let’s take a look at the title. Was Tony a satisfaction –guaranteed or dissatisfaction –Guaranteed robot? Did Tony satisfy Claire?
If not, could you give another title to the passage?
