Gratitude on Thanksgiving Day
Wang Lei
Thanksgiving Day is coming. I prepare nothing special, neither pumpkin pie nor turkey, but expecting my deep gratitude. I feel privileged to be sharing my feelings with all of people who have been important to me during my life.
First of all, I want to thank my parents. Nineteen years ago, they gave birth to me, a child that took all the love they gave for granted. Mom and Dad have been strengthening family as best they can. At home, I can feel love grow. I thought that the patience and tolerance parents showed were also done by any other parents. I thought all parents felt their duty constantly reinforce the chores they have repeatedly done. I paid little attention to their daily life, their schedule, their health or their state of mind. I still couldn’t forget that whenever I need my dad, I just called on him, then he showed up and gave me warmth and comfort. But now, dear dad and mom, I’m growing up. I appreciate the guidance and love that I once took for granted. I appreciate a happy family that makes me cozy and optimistic. I love you both more than you can imagine. I’m so proud to be your daughter.
I would also like to acknowledge my debt to all of my teachers. They’re the guiding light in my life. I’m fortunate in having different styles of teachers. They’re humorous, smart, strict, erudite.. I cherish the memories about the golden childhood. At that time, children always imitated teachers and liked to group themselves around a teacher. Also, the memory that the class got up when the teacher came in is still lasting. At college, I can exchange my ideas with teachers and accept their professional analysis. In addition, they encouraged me to become more independent and mature on my growing way. All of my teachers, I’m glad to say, take their jobs very seriously. I sincerely hope that as a reasonable member of society, they can make as many people well-educated as possible through their determined efforts.
I want to thank my boy friend for making my life complete. As an old saying goes, “Anyone can catch your eye, but it takes someone special to catch your heart.” Looking back the past six years, we cared, supported and encouraged each other all the time. Being irritable and self-willed sometimes, I lost my temper easily. But, he never complained. Instead, he gave me tolerance and comfort. After entering college, I had to deal with things on my own. At this period of time, he’s always considerate towards me and reminded me of all the details I neglected. Love and care exist everywhere and touch me deeply. Thank him for dealing with all my hesitation and always being there for me.
Then, I want to thank my dear friends. The only rose without thorns in the world is friendship. True friendship is hard to find, difficult to leave, impossible to forget. Friends accompany me to experience new life with so many unknown things. Friends make my life full of excitements, persistence and hopes. Friends teach me to be strong enough, brave enough. Wherever I go in the future, I will never feel lonely; I know I’m growing with you!
Above all, I’ll never forget whom all my glories belong to. They belong to you-- all the people cared me. With gratitude for both that you’ve done and that you are still doing for me, I will not disappoint you. Thank you so much! Good luck for you! I will keep my fingers crossed!
