Teaching points:

The students should mastering (saying, reading, writing and using correctly) the vocabulary: department ,department store.

The students practice saying and writing ,and can respond orally to this sentence: May I help you ?

Teaching tools: the cards about the department store; the tape recorder;

                The signs for the department store.

Teaching process:

Class Opening and Review

Greeting. 

Drill: Please answer with the name of the appropriate shop.

Teacher: I want to buy ____( a dress, some tea, a bicycle tire ).

Students: Let’s go to the ____ shop.

( Review the name of the shops.)

(巩固旧的知识,为新知识的学习做好铺垫。练习口语对话能力。)

New Concepts

Department store.

Explain the concept of “department store ” use Chinese.

Ask the students if they have visited a department store . Why ? 

What did they do there?

   Look at the book , point to the picture in the students book as the  teacher and students say “department store ” a few times.

   Make the dialogues:

Teacher : What are these?

Students :They are books.

Teacher : Yes! This is the book department .

(Review the different items in the store .)

   Play the audiotape as the students follow in the books.

   Make the dialogues as above.

   Activity book : Lesson 10   Number 1

   The students draw a picture of something they would like to buy and then write the name of the place. Where they would buy it?

May I help you ?

Role-play: Show the class the signs for the department store you have posted . Pretend to go shopping . Do a dialogue :

Teacher: Let’s go shopping . I want to buy a ____. Let’s go to the department store .

Teacher: Hello. May I help you ? Say it, please.

Students: May I help you ?

Teacher: Yes , please . I want to buy a ____. Where are they?

Clerk: I can show you .Here they are .

Teacher: Thanks .

Students Book: Lesson 10  Number 2

Play the audiotape and follow the books.

Discuss the dialogue . Make the dialogue like this in groups.

Present the dialogue to the class.
