Unit 3 Sports Day(A-1)
Teaching Objectives:
1, Students learn some new words and sentences
2, Students can interact with others by using simple expressions and structures learned
3, Tell students the importance of getting exercises and keeping fit
Analysis of the Teaching Material:
Key points: do the high jump do the long jump catch a ball throw a ball skip run in a race
Difficult points:
1, Some sentence structures: I can do the long jump. I can skip. What's Bob going to do? He is going to ..... Is Todd going to throw a ball? Yes, he is./ No, he isn't.
2, To understand the story and act it out
Teaching methods:
free talk, questions and answers, presentation, activity participation, role play, pair work, group work, pre-reading, etc. according to contents and requirements of students.

Unit 3 Sports Day(A-1)
Warm up:
1, Greetings
2,Sing a song
3, Guessing Game: I do some sports and students guess what I am doing (using with verbal phrases)
4,Show the phrases on the powerpoint and students read them as a review
5, Free talk
T: I can run and play basketball. What can you do?
Students talk a while and then they present their answers.
Ss: I can .....
Presentation:
1, Lead some new verbal phrases during our free talk. They are the following ones, do the long jump, do the high jump, run in a race, skip, catch a ball, and throw a ball.
2, Teach the phrases one by one and take some activities to understand more.
do th long/ high jump: listan and read, low and high game, and use them in sentences to talk about them
run in a race: listen and read, students run and compete who is the winner
skip: listen and read, call students to act skipping in front of the class
catch/ throw a ball: listen and read several times, play catching and throwing balls with students and say the phrases out
3, Ss do actions and review the phrases we've just learned by looking at word cards
Practise:
1,(Books open) Read the verbal phrases by teacher's instruction.
2, Compete with their partners who can say out all of the verbal phrases we've learned today and do them
Homework:
1, Listen and read the phrases
2, Copy the words three times

pay attention to the spelling of the words: jump, high, throw, race

Warm up:
1, Greetings
2,Review the words we've learned last class by looking at word cards
3, Call students one by one and let them read
4, Free talk

Presentation:
1, Introduce one character(Mr Li) to the students and let them guess what he can do
2, Ss talk freely
3, Call some students to say it out
4, T: Mr Li is talking to his students now. Let's listen to them. Then answer one question. When's Sports Day?
5, Play CD.
6, Answer the question. If students can't answer, listen to CD again.
7, Listen to CD again and read after it.
8, (books open) read after me.

Warm up:
1, Greetings
2,Review the words we've learned last class by looking at word cards
3, Call students one by one and let them read
4, Free talk
What day is it today? What is the date today?
T: Today is Friday. So tomorrow is Saturday. What are you going to do on Saturday?
S1: I am going to ...... S2: I am going to......
Ss talk about that with each other.
T: Guess what Miss Huo is going to do?
Presentation:
1,Lead them to say out the new sentence structure.
2,T: I am going to practise. Ask them whether they know the word "practise". If don't, teach the word.
3,Then ask them the question again and lead them to say out: Miss Huo is going to practiise.
4,Then write these sentences on the BB.
What is Miss Huo going to do?
Miss Huo is going to practise.
5,Let students read after me.
6,Then I will show some pictures on the transparency. Let them talk about what Miss Huo going to do?
S1: Miss Huo is going to skip.
S2: Miss Huo is going to .....
7, Show some other pictures from B1 and let them discuss what the children are going to do? Meantime, introduce the people in the picture.
8,Ss talk.
9, I will ask students to answer the questions one by one.
10, Listen to CD and let them answer another two questions:

11, Read after CD.
12, Read after me.

2,Dictate verbal phrases in part A
3, Call students to read part B1
4, Ask and answer according to the picture in the book

Ss: She is going to....
T: What is Tom going to do?
S1: He is going to....
S2:What is Ken going to to?
S3: He is going to....
S4:What is Todd going to do?
S5: He is going to....
Presentation:
1, T: Is Todd going to throw a ball? Yes or No?
2, Ss answer together.
3, Write the question and answer on the BB.

2, Listen to CD and find the information.

4, Show the pictures and let students discuss and say out what is happening in the pictures.
5, Then lead out some difficult points and explain to students.
