2. Students learn how to make accept and decline invitation politely.

2. Important phrase: What’s today? It's Monday the 13th.

Teaching Steps
Step 1.Warming-up
Listen to a song named come to my party.(既与本单元内容相结合,又能活跃气氛,使学生快速进入学习状态)
Step 2. Presentation
1. Show my picture and introduce myself , while introducing myself, talk with students, let them know more about me and understand each other better. Then let them guess when my birthday is.(以学生看着信息问我问题的方式来介绍我自己,体现学生活动为主的原则。通过猜生日来复习序数词及日期的表达法,并通过猜中有奖来活跃气氛)
2. After guessing the birthday, let them learn these sentences: What’s the date today? What day is today? What’s today? Tell them how to answer them correctly.
While learning these sentences, learn and review these words and phrases like tomorrow, the day after tomorrow, yesterday, weekdays (from Sunday to Saturday)
After learning these sentences and phrases, ask students to work in chains.
A: What’s today?
B: It’s Monday, October 13th.What’s tomorrow?
C: It’s …What’s the day after tomorrow?
D: It’s …What was yesterday ?
E: It was Sunday October 12th.…
(通过猜生日来引出日期的表达法,并从中学习生词明天,后天,工作日,星期的表达,并及时操练刚学的生词和句型,体现了在用中学,学了就用的教学理念)

Step 4. Work in pairs.(talk about activities)
A: What was yesterday? B: It was… I did ….
A: What’s today? B: It’s…have to…
A: What’s tomorrow? B: It’s… I am doing…
A: What’s the day after tomorrow? B: It’s …. I am doing…
(这个操练是在原有谈论日期的基础上有所提升,加上了谈论当天的活动,为下文作铺垫,同时使所学的知识层层加深)
Step 5. Lead them to do listening test.
Talk about my activities (from Monday to Saturday), while talking, let them guess what I am doing on Wednesday, and Saturday. Using “ I’m going to play tennis on Saturday afternoon” , lead them to do listening test.(通过谈论自己的活动来引入听力,同时也降低了听力的难度,一举两得)
Step6. Listening test
T: I like playing tennis very much. And Andy also likes playing tennis, so he asks his friend Vince to go with him.Can Vince go? If not, why ? What is he doing these days?
Listen and check the answer.
Step7. Role play
Ask students to act Andy and Vince(熟悉句型,为下一步作准备)
Step8. Make your own dialogue
Tell them to make their own dialogue like Andy and Vince.(用所学句型谈论自己的活动,体现学了就用的原则。学生可以任选一个活动也可自己设计一个,参考句型是为帮助基础差的学生。这样设计的目的是使不同层次的学生都学有所获,还可提供优等生展示自己的平台,发散他们的创新思维)
Step9. Work in groups
Let them enjoy some pictures about Xinchang. Then tell them Xinchang will hold the tenth travel festival. First I invite them to Xinchang. Then do group work,make a survey. If one of them wants to go to Xinchang, first he/she asks the others to go with him/her.Maybe some can go, some can’t go. If not, they should tell the reasons. After that, he/she should write it down and report to the class.(用新昌的风光图片既吸引了学生的注意力,又自然地引入到了调查并汇报的小组活动中。通过这个活动,学生把所学的知识生活化,使课文内容更进一层,并使学生从听、说、读上升到了写,体现了学以致用的原则)
Step10. Summarize
(小结整堂课的内容,让学生有真正学到了许多知识的成功感)
Step11. Homework
Write an e-mail to me. Ask me to go to Shaoxing to attend an important activity.
