Lesson Plan Presentation of Unit 10
Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen.  It’s my pleasure to present my lesson: Unit 10 Book 7B Go for it! Where did you go on vacation? The lesson plan I am going to talk about consists of four parts.
I Understanding of teaching material and my students.
II Teaching methods and learning strategies.
III Teaching procedure.
IV Blackboard notes.

I Understanding of teaching material and the students.
(1) This lesson is the fourth lesson in this unit. In the past three lessons, students have learned the Simple Past Tense, and they have learned some sentence structures, like: Where did you go on vacation? Did you do…? How was/were…? In this lesson, students will learn to use all these language points to practice speaking and writing. Although students are familiar with this topic, it will still be a little difficult for them to compose a passage.
(2) Teaching and learning focus: Use the past tense to express in a travel diary.
(3) Anticipated difficulty :The irregular forms of the past tense; Use the following phrases to talk about the travel experience: make sb do, find sb doing, decide to do sth
According to the above analysis, I set the following teaching objectives.

1. Knowledge objective:
(1) By the end of the class, most students will be able to grasp the following words and phrases: have fun doing, find sb. crying in the corner, make sb feel, walk back to ,decide to do, the Great Wall, the Palace Museum, Tian’an Men Square, a Beijing Hutong.
(2)By the end of the class, most students will be able to understand the main idea of the Bob’s travel diary: they can tell the good things and the bad things about his vacation; they can find the details of the passage .eg. What, Where, How.
2. Ability objective:
(1) By the end of the class, students’ oral English will be improved. Most students will be able to talk about their traveling experience.
(2) Students will be able to learn to get information by scanning and skimming.
(3) Most students will be able to write a travel diary using the past tense.
3. Moral objective:
(1) Students will cooperate well in groups and in pairs.
(2) Students will be interested in communicating in English.
(3) Students will learn to enjoy the vacation and enjoy the life.

II Teaching methods and learning strategies.
I adopt task-based approach. During the lesson , I will use these activities like listening to a song, guessing game, group work, pair work, role playing, survey and interview.

III Teaching procedure.
Pre-reading
Step 1 Warming up and revision
1. Play a song “Let’s travel”. Ask the students the following questions.
What is this song about?
Do you like traveling?
Where did you go on your last summer vacation?
What did you do ?
How was your trip/the food/the weather?
How were the people…?
Purpose:It is very useful to use a flash and an English song to activate our students. They will quickly pay attention to this class while they are absorbed in the flash and the English song. The class can be taught in a relaxing atmosphere
2. Make a survey of your partner about his/her last summer vacation.
Use the questions we talked above.
Purpose: Students are usually interested in talking about their own daily life. This activity can help develop students’ background knowledge and also arouse students’ interest in reading the text.
Step 2 Presentation
Present the new words and expressions
Lead—in: Question: I went to Hangzhou last summer vacation.Where did my family go ? Get students to guess like: Did you go to …?
CAI shows many pictures of my family’s vacation in Hangzhou Water Park. Talk freely about the weather, the tourists, the activities. Present : have fun playing in the water; make me feel happy; find my son crying; decide to walk back to the hotel.
Purpose: In this step, my purpose is to arouse the students’ interests and present the new phrases in a real-life situation. Meanwhile to help students get some necessary information.
While-reading
Step3 Reading
1. Show a picture of Bob. Question: This is my American friend Bob. He likes traveling very much. Where did Bob go ? Let students read the travel diary quickly and find the answers.
Purpose:Training students’ reading strategies is one important task for English teachers. This kind of activity will help fostering students’ skimming skill.
2. Read again and circle the good things and the bad things about his vacation.
3. Read the passage again and answer the questions. eg
How was the weather on July 15th?
Where did Bob go ?
What did he do there?
How were the shops there?
What did he think about the travel?
Purpose:This is a kind of detailed reading, an important reading skill. Students are expected to go into deeper level comprehension. It’s a good example to develop students’ close-reading skills.
4.Role play: Make an interview : Student A acts as a reporter, Student B acts as Bob. Use these sentences: Where did you go on July 15th? What did you do? How was /were…? How did you feel? to interview Bob’s day on July 16th.
Purpose: This offers students a good opportunity to practise their oral English , so reading and speaking skills are naturally integrated.
After-reading
Step4 Writing
1. T:Bob likes China very much. He also visited Beijing on his vacation. Guess: Where did he go?
Show the pictures with half covered ,get students to guess and present: the Great Wall, the Palace Museum, Tian’an Men Square, a Beijing Hutong.
Teach the new words.
2. Brainstorming: What do you think about when you see these pictures? Get them to talk about their impression and what they can do there. In this part, students can practice using the new phrases: have fun doing, make sb feel, see sb doing, decide to do. Thus, the difficulties are solved naturally.
3. A task: Imagine you are Bob on vacation in Beijing. Complete a travel
diary.
4. A travel diary competition: Our school is having a travel diary
competition. Write a travel diary about your unforgetful travel.

Purpose: This writing task aims to enhance students’ writing skill. In this way, the four language skills are naturally integrated
Step5 Homework
 1.Groupwork:Imagine you are all foreigners on vacation in China. You meet each other at the airport on your way home. Talk about what you did on your vacation. Act out in the next class.
2.Interview your parent about his or her unforgetful travel experience and write a travel diary for him or her.
Purpose: Homework is important for students to go on practicing students’ speaking and writing skills after class. The reason of my putting groupwork here as homework is that this task is repeated and easy for students to finish.
